1. Getting Started: Opening Your Account
Whether you are ready for live markets or practicing with virtual funds, the setup happens in your Client Area (CRM).
How to Open an Account: 1. Log in to your portal at my.cgtrade.com/login. 2. Click the "Open an Account" button. 3. Choose your account type (Live for STD, ECN, and Cent) and set your preferred leverage.
Can I use both? Yes. You can have both Demo and Live accounts active simultaneously. This allows you to test new strategies in a risk-free environment while managing your real capital.
Demo Account Customization: You are not stuck with a default balance. While $100,000 is common, you can customize the virtual funds to match your realistic trading goals.
Troubleshooting Registration: If the "verification column" appears unclickable while opening a demo account, try applying directly through the MT4 Trading Software or ensure your CRM profile is fully completed.
2. Password Management & Security
Losing access to your account can be stressful, but recovery is straightforward through the secure portal.
I forgot my MT4 password. What do I do?
If you cannot log in to the MT4 platform, you can reset your trading password through your Client Area. This master portal controls all your trading accounts.
Log in to the Client Area: Access your secure portal here.
Select the MT4 Account: Navigate to your account overview and find the specific account number you need to access.
Initiate Reset: Click on "Reset/Change Trading Password."
Identity Verification: For your protection, follow the on-screen prompts to verify your identity (usually via an email code).
Update & Sync: Once you set the new password, it updates instantly. Use this new password to log back into the MT4 Desktop or Mobile app.
Understanding the "Read-Only" (Investor) Password
Security is about more than just recovery; it’s about control. MT4 uses two types of passwords:
Trading Password: Your main password. It allows for full control, including opening and closing trades. Keep this private.
Read-Only (Investor) Password: This allows someone else to view your account progress and balance without the ability to place trades. It is perfect for sharing your results with a mentor or auditor safely.
How to Change it: You can update this via the CRM Portal settings or directly inside the MT4 Platform under Tools > Options > Server.
